Kingston U3A Singers in Concert

We usually perform 2 concerts a year, a spring/summer concert in June and our Christmas concert in December.
Music is varied, both secular and sacred.
The repertoire is very mixed with music ranging from classic British folk songs, early music works, standards from the American and British song books through Victoriana, films and shows to modern living composers.

Next Concert:

Unfortunately our Summer and Christmas concerts this year are cancelled due to the Covid-19 virus. The social distancing severely restricted our rehearsal schedule and as most choirs found we are unable to present a full programme due to government restrictions.
However we are looking forward to the near future and hopefully we will return to the New Malden Methodist Church, 49 High Street, New Malden, KT3 4BY for our 2021 Concerts
More details will emerge as future arrangements firm up.
But do get in contact with us at any time. Either call or check our website for more detailed information such as tickets sales etc.

U3A Mission Statement:

"Membership of a U3A is open to all in their third age, which is defined not by a particular age but by a period in life in which full time employment has ceased."

The choir meet locally on Thursday mornings

at 10.30am to 12.30pm at :

Glenmore House, 6 The Crescent, Surbiton, KT6 4BN.

The hall has a large free car park and with local bus stops outside.

(large car park and bus stops for 65,71,281,465,671, 965, K1, K2 and K3)

This very friendly 4 Part Choir (SATB) is looking to recruit more voices for our future concerts. We sing various different styles of music ranging from sacred to secular, classical to modern.

All are welcome.

There is no formal audition and you don’t need to be able to sight read but if you can hold a tune and, hopefully, remember a fair amount of it for the next time, that’s good enough for us. Maybe a willingness to practice between rehearsals but above all, an enthusiasm for music making.

All music is provided and, with a refreshment break it’s a chance to come and meet and make new friends. A quarterly charge is levied to cover the choir’s expenses.

If you are interested then do come along to a Thursday rehearsal or speak to Helga Randall on 020 8397 8712 or Roger Dench on 07759 020433 else:

Dates for 2021

Initial U3A Kingston Singers rehearsal date = Thursday 16th September 2021 at Glenmore House, Surbiton. We are gradually getting used to living with Covid-19 and some choirs are now coming out of isolation. We are no exception. At the time of writing this piece, our first Concert, which is our annual Christmas Concert, will be held on Saturday 11th December 2021 at the Methodist Church, New Malden. With the current situation do please check this website for any changes to this date.

Semi Chorus (Consort)

We would like to develop a small semi chorus/consort from within the choir. Suggest 6 to 8 singers , one or two from each part, to offer a separate spot at concerts , (so the choir can have a rest!!) or to sing at local venues/concerts in promoting the choir. All yet to be discussed and finalised but if interested do have a word with Roger.
